How It Got Started

Working in Academia is tough. Higher Education has huge challenges both in research and teaching. It's easy to lose sight of the positives.

I'm an academic working in a UK University and I started The Grateful Academic, on a difficult day when I realised that looking for the good, embracing it and sharing it was going to make me a better academic.

That's not to say that things don't get tough - they do... really tough sometimes, but that's not what The Grateful Academic is about. I want to share how gratitude and positivity can help all of us working in academia happier, more fulfilled and ultimately more successful.

The Grateful Academic is truly my own little passion project, gaining more and more traction each day. I hope you enjoy browsing my site and all of the unique content I have to offer. Take a look around; perhaps you’ll discover what fuels you as well. Read on and enjoy!

The Grateful Academic is designed and curated by Dr Sarah Allsop, a Senior Lecturer in Medical and Anatomy Education at the University of Bristol (twitter: @sarah_a_bristol).
